In 2020, I engaged in Taiwan Alternative Space’s art project, Art Adventure. During the time, I visited many rainy northern mountain regions and highlands full of waterfalls. For this project, I chose to use the waterfall as my creative thought. The idea touched and combined a theme that I have long wanted to try, which were souvenir and the afterlife. I imagined the exhibition space to be the Bardo, which was the first stop of the afterlife. At the same time, I explored the difference of dynamic and still life images.
Upon entering the exhibition, participants cascaded down the entrance like a black and white waterfall image. Then, they saw the two postcard racks beside the counter. Both racks were filled with a long pale elongated portrait, pouring down like a waterfall. The postcards were for sale. Once the postcards have been taken, the continuity of the waterfall broke. The souvenir is representative of an experience of sightseeing for the living, which could be sold and purchased.
